We started our journey 6 months ago....

"In January 2022 we visited Plettenberg Bay for the first time and couldn’t believe that such a beautiful place existed - the perfect combination of farm, coast, forest and mountain all close by
Day 2 of being here we viewed the house, flew back to Johannesburg and put an offer in. I quit my corporate job, we moved a few months later and knew that we wanted to share this beautiful place with others in a way that was responsible.

We established The Vacation Home to give people a truly different experience - accommodation that overlooks a protected green belt with 50+ observed bird species, tons of butterflies and our occasional monkey and baboon visitors. Stunning sunsets from the patio, a relaxing garden, sounds of the ocean and silent nights - right in the middle of Plettenberg Bay. We furnished the place with a ship theme to remind you that despite the greenery and cabin feel, you are actually just 1.3 km from the nearest blue flag beach. The house has everything you could need, including lots of entertainment in the form of darts, body boards, snorkelling gear, a telescope for those starry nights, board games, full streaming services, 300mb speed internet and even an inflatable boat for the lagoon. Holidays are meant to be effortless and that’s what we aimed to provide for our guests. It was equally important for us to show people that great holidays don’t have to be bad for the earth which is why we make use of gas geysers, a gas stove and oven, solar lights outside, all of our toiletries and cleaning products are 100% local, not animal tested and earth friendly. We provide recommendations for local owned and run places and only ethical activities that are respectful of the unbelievable nature that we love.
